Arcade And Computer Games Meet

Victor Epand asked:

There are many arcade games out on the Internet that kids the age of 6 to 8 years old can play. There are some that are violent so we have chosen not to review those. Kids get so much violence from other influences; we are not supporting that position. The games we ranked were challenging but still could be won if the child had enough hand-eye coordination. Try to encourage them as they play so that they will not get discouraged and quit. Remaining positive is always better for their young growing minds. So let them play the games as we think that games do have a place in a growing child’s realm. They teach so many skills that the child will need in their grown-up lives. There are other ways to teach this same skill, but children seem to learn faster and with less grumbling if they enjoy the method.

The most relaxing and stress free game was Yuniti while the Mini Gallery was the most stressful of all the games we reviewed. Seeing Santa plastered on the snow was funny and while he slid down the ravine he said weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yuniti is a great hand, eye coordination game and it is very relaxing. The child between 4 and 8 can easily play this game. It lasts as long as you can keep the balls from hitting the ground. Even an adult could get to love this addicting game as it is so relaxing. You have a green ball that you are in control of with your arrow keys. When a blue ball floats downward, you bump it with the green ball so that it will go up again. It seems quit tame at first, then, more balls start falling. Within 40 seconds you may have at least 3 or 4 balls falling around the same time. The longer your score time is the better you are at it.

After Glow is a game where you are guiding your ship through several levels while collecting orbs. You must complete each level in the shortest possible amount of time. The levels are based around time and separated into easy mode, medium and hard mode which leaves insane mode for those who have conquered the game. Your score is based on how long it takes you to maneuver through the obstacles. If you accidently hit the wall you are penalized. The harder you hit a wall the more penalties the game will give you. It is diffinently a game of hand and eye coordination and learning to use those arrow keys ceee! This game does take some skills so a child of 6 to 8 could probably learn to play this game.

Mini Gallery is another arcade game that probably a 6 year old to 8 year old would want to play. You have a basket where you want to catch the “good” eggs that are falling from the sky. There are also “bad” eggs falling and you sure do not want those eggs in your basket. If you get a full basket of good eggs, then you click the mouse and cook them. Even on the easy mode, this game was quit challenging as some of the eggs looked good as they were falling, but at the last moment, they cracked open! A child needs to have great hand eye coordination as well as the ability to tell a good egg from a bad egg. This is a short lived game if you cannot maneuver the mouse and differentiate between the good and the bad eggs.

Flash games and the people who play them

Charles Cater asked:

Flash games are a great way for people to take a break at work. These games have a proliferation of websites that people visit on a daily basis. So what is it about these games that have people flocking to them to play them in droves.

The flash games are easy to find online and even easier to play. By simply visiting one of the plethora of flash game sites found online you are able to find your alltime favorite games. They are games that many people grew up playing. Virtually all of the original Atari 2600 games have been converted into flash arcade games. You can pick classics such as space-invaders, donkey-kong, or pong.

The flash arcade games are not limited to the atari but have now ventured forth into the realm of the classic nintendo games, metroid, mario brothers, or punch-out. These games are compressed and prepared in an internet friendly coding environment.

The games allow those that are stressed at work to achieve some downtime during the day. While people are playing the flash arcade games they are avoiding the daily rigors of their work. They are able to be absorbed into an alternate reality that allows them to escape the rigors of their daily lives.

The release of this daily stress allows the individuals to perform better at other simple tasks that they have to do during the day. The individuals gain a level of frustration release and axiety release while playing the flash arcade games.

Many times communities develop around some of the flash games. People log-in to forums to chat and discuss the playing of the games. Students take a needed respit from work to play the games and try to one-up their classmates in the score of a favorite flash arcade game. Posting high scores to the forum.

This is a natural human emotion of competition and extends from the time period before computers. People have been competing in different events for centuries and this new form of competition is just an extension of the desire of humans to win.

The flash arcade games give the players a sense of accomplishment. They are also extremely easy to play with no complex commands or buttons. The flash game can typically be controlled by the arrow keys and the space bar or the mouse.

Being the best a flash arcade game typically means you have better reactions or better memory. Not a better method to find the cheat code to the game online.

IC asked:

One of the most entertaining things to do while you are online is to take advantage of the great selection of online games which are freely available everyone. Online games are known to help you improve your memory, improve your hand eye coordination and even help you relax after a busy day.

Some of the best and most recent games are coded as flash applications, you may be wondering what “flash” is and how to get it. Flash is used by web browsers such as Internet explorer, Firefox and many others to deliver rich visual content and animations which may be embedded on web sites, these are standard components which are included with the browser and are updated every time your system gets automatic updates.

Using this technology you are able to access gigantic library of online games without having to pay a dime. If you have been a big fan of games but have been discouraged by the high prices of stand alone gaming consoles then all you need is your computer an internet connection and your flash enabled browser in order to enjoy the variety of casino, board, arcade, educational, memory, fun, hunting, mature, sports, trivia, war, driving and the many categories flash games are classified. As far as internet connections, dial-up works perfectly, broadband just makes the loading time much faster. These games have been optimized for optimal size so most of them do not exceed 1 megabyte.

A great example of a fun flash game is called Python. This arcade game is quite fun to play, the goal is to eat as many mouses as you possibly can without crashing against the walls of the cage or against your own tail. The python moves quite fast so you need to train yourself to react fast enough in order to maneuver the snake around the cage, you will find that the most challenging obstacle is avoiding your very own tail! Besides Python there are many other arcade games which are sure to entertain you from the huge databases found all over the web. Remember that there are many other categories which can help you improve your skills as well as memory.

A very popular online memory game is called colors, this one is quite challenging after a few successful rounds. It starts by showing you a simple color sequence which you have to mimic, after you have successfully repeated each combination the amount of color used is increased and the sequence tends gets randomized even more, with this memory game the longer you go the better your memory skills get.

Why Do Webmasters Create Arcade Sites?

July 13th, 2008
arcade
Alan Biron asked:

Some webmasters design and create these arcade games to play sites for a variety of reasons. Some just like playing free online flash games and want their very own arcade site. Some want to make money either from advertising or selling the site and that is the sole purpose for them creating it, and others it’s a little bit of both.

So how do these people make money anyways if they don’t charge any money for you to play their free flash games? They make money by selling ad space or using an advertising company to display ads on the site. Some webmasters also sell links on their sites, but since Google has been cracking down on webmasters buying and selling links for either monetary gain or to try and manipulate the rankings by purchasing links containing the keyphrase that their targetting this option is rarely used by site owners today.

Let’s take a look at the various types of ad’s that can be seen and used on these free flash games arcade sites.

Banner Ad’s - These ads are simple image ads that links to the advertisee’s website. The sizes of these ads can pretty much be any size but the most common ad sizes are: 468×60, 728×90, 120×600, 160×600, 200×200, 250×250, 300×250, 336,280. These are the most commonly used forms of advertising on any free online arcade website.

Text Ad’s - Basic links that may or may not have a description of the website with it.

PicText Ad’s - These ad’s are like the basic text ads with a link and description but are also accompanied by a small image that you can have related to your website or the ad being displayed.

Popup/Popunder Ad’s - These ad’s aren’t commonly found on arcade sites, in fact most users find these ad’s extremely annoying and a lot of users will not return to a free flash games arcade site if they use popup or popunder ads. These ads open another window in your browser displaying an advertisement in them.

Roll Over Ad’s - You may have noticed on websites that some words will be underlined, and when you put your mouse over these words a small popup ad appears above your mouse. This is a roll over ads. Although not commonly used on arcade websites, they are found on a small percentage of them.

Peel Away Ad’s - These advertisements look pretty cool but yet again aren’t found commonly on online arcade sites. In one of the top corners of the page you will see an image as if the page was peeled back a little bit. When your mouse goes over this image the page peels back revealing an advertisement underneath of it.

Interstitial/Transition Ad’s - These ad’s can be defined as “Something in Between”. Some arcade sites use interstital ad’s before gameplay screens or after a certain number of pages a user navigates to. These usually fade in or display a full page advertisement that has usually a 10 or 15 second countdown that will automatically continue to the next page when the time elapses or there may be a “Skip” button that you can press to proceed without waiting for the time to elapse.

There are also different types of advertising companies that pay you different ways. Some pay you so much per click, other pay you so much per impression, and some are a combination of both.

CPC - Cost Per Click - You are paid so much per click, the amount you make off each click usually varies with user’s location, unique ip address, and a few other factors. These advertising companies are good if you have a moderate to good CTR (Click Through Ratio)

CPM - Cost Per Thousand Impressions - You are paid for the amount of times that ad’s are actually shown to your user’s. These are good if you have a lot of traffic but a low CTR (Click Through Ratio).

The most common advertising company used on arcade sites is Google AdSense. Some of the other major ad companies that you may find on arcade sites is AdBrite and Yahoo! Publisher Network. However there are many many other advertising companies, and even some arcade owners choose to sell their own private ads.

Today`s Arcade Games

Cristian Malita asked:

Since the advance of modern personal computers there are very few people that go out to play arcade games. Also the development of graphically-advanced games like Unreal 3 or Crysis seems to have made arcades disappear. But what happened to the classics like Donkey Kong or Mario? Did they disappear?

The answer is no. They are all to be found on online gaming websites that lets you play them for an unlimited time at no price. The advantage of this kind of games is that they can be played from home, on almost any personal computer that has an internet connection for free. All that you have to do is type an online arcade website`s address in your browser and choose from thousands of free games to play.

The reason why webmasters make this websites to offer free games is that there is no need for a large amount of money to establish them and they can also make big amounts of money from the advertisements placed on the site. While establishment a real arcade might cost you up to $50000, establishing an online arcade might cost less than $20.

The average online arcade has about 1500 games distributed in categories like action, adventure, strategy, role-playing, driving, shooting and sports which can satisfy gamers of any age with any preferences. In addition many of this online arcades offer gamers a social environment in which they can comment, rate, bookmark or add their favorite games to social networking sites such as myspace or hi5. Some even offer more fancy ways to socialize such as forums and chat rooms.

The games themselves are developed using software such as adobe flash or adobe shockwave. This programs are very easy to use, so almost everyone can create a game. Some online arcades are taking advantage of this and have the ability to allow users to submit their own games to the website. This can be a great way for online game developers to express their talent and gain popularity.

Online gaming probably has the biggest effect on teenagers especially girls that prefer less sophisticated games. They are also a good option for adults that don`t have anything better to do or boys that can`t afford a powerful computer or complex 3d games. Another significant source of traffic comes from poorer countries where people can`t afford a Personal Computer, so they visit local cyber-cafes, and the fact that they don`t have to pay extra for the games they play gives them a good reason to spend time on those sites.

There are also arcade gaming sites that offer mobile solutions, so a user can go online with their mobile phone, download a game in java format, play it leave comments or even more.

Some online gaming sites organize contests from time-to-time and award the winners with cash or gifts. This gives people a good opportunity to make money or win stuff for free and also helps to advertise the website.

In conclusion, online gaming is gaining popularity very fast and will probably be one of the biggest forms of entertainment of the 21st century, competing with sports, television and 3d gaming.

Good Old Arcade Machine Games

May 6th, 2008

GamingGuide.net Team asked:

Do you remember the good old arcade machine days?

You know, the ones you could play for just 20 cents or 40 cents at the very most?

You’d jump on your bike or catch a bus and head down to your local arcade center. There’d be loads of machines just waiting to be played: Pacman(TM), Space-Invaders(TM), Galaga(TM) and many more. “Ooh, what’s this new game?”

All you needed were a couple of dollars and you could be playing for ages. Sure, the graphics and sound effects were not as high-tech as those produced by today’s machines, but did anyone care?

Those games and many others rated tops on the addiction scale. One of my personal favourites was Galaga(TM). It’s an early 80’s alien shoot-em-up I was hooked on.

Home computers were not very common back in those days. Playing your favourite arcade game on a home computer was not always possible. Even if it was, the quality of the home computer version was sometimes not as good as that of the arcade version.

Things are very different today. The home computer is much more sophisticated. Software has evolved several hundred-fold. The Internet as we know it has come into being. People can now play classic and newer arcade games, as well as sports games, board games and much more at home and for free.

There is website that you need to download the game before you can even play which is alright but nowadays people are building website for games that kids or even teenagers can play online for free. That’s why you have anti-virus that could detect and tell you if it’s not good to download.  Every website  have different categories for games like action, arcade, girls dress up , retro, racing or shooting, and adult games.  You will only find adult games on website that also has shooting games. You won’t find shooting games or adult games on kids’ games website.  They would only have action, arcade, retro, girls’ game, racing, puzzle and lastly educational games.  Yes kids game website do have educational games for children’s, they put it because so children can have fun while they learn.

Online games keep us active, stay in touch with the latest web technologies, get news and information from others, and become a part of the web community. Many gaming sites include forums where visitors can discuss games they are playing, get help with problems that they don’t know how to solve the situation or provide reviews of the game they have just played. Before you play a game, you will need your browser and macromedia flash player or other software, it depends on which website you are. Some website doesn’t use flash player for their games, to find out which software you need, you either have to go their website info or it will tell you after you click a game you like.
